Dragon Wing
"The original Dragon Wing patch design was a result of a contest held around 1966 by then New Jersey Wing Commander, Colonel Nanette Moss Spears. With her ever-present cigarette holder, Colonel Spears resembled a character from Milton Canif's Terry and the Pirates and was dubbed the 'Dragon Lady' by some."
"The patch was worn on flight suits and fatigues predominately through the late-60s and early-70s, however members have been seen wearing it almost four decades after its conception."

Raritan Valley Composite Squadron
"While a Cadet and Senior Member at Raritan Valley Composite Squadron, Edison, NJ, Manville NJ, 29003 there was a copy of this patch. It seems that prior to me joining (1976) the squadron had contacted Charles M. Shultz, the creator of the Peanuts caricatures. They had inquired about using Snoopy, in the identical configuration seen in the patch, and asked if they could use this artistic rendering. I saw the accompanying letter from Mr. Shultz approving the use."
